
Val-Inc is Val's incorporation of the musical traditions of her ancestor's past into the future. Born and raised in Haiti, Val's percussive culture and background is the foundation of her creations.
Living and creating in New York City for the past 10 years, the multi-talented drummer/producer/recording engineer has worked at The Cutting Room, Sound On Sound, The Power Station and Avatar Studios with a diverse group of artists including Geri Allen, Anthony Braxton and Wadada Leo Smith.
Her live Afro-Electronica Orchestration has been showcased at NYC venues such as The Whitney Museum, The Museum of Modern Art, The Public Theater and The Kitchen. She has also performed at Portland Institute of Contemporary Art as well as International performances at SaalFelden'02 in Austria, Stanser Musiktage'03 in Switzerland, and La Biennale Di Venezia in Italy. She received the 2003 Meet The Composer Grant and the Van Lier Grant in 2000, awarded by Harvestworks Multimedia Art Center.
Since establishing her production company and label V-I Productions and Records in 2002, she has been performing her live Afro-Electronica Installations, collaborating at times with performers such as Shelley Hirsch, Tracie Morris, and Vernon Reid.
She has established herself as one of the most original and cutting edge artists/producers on the New York experimental underground scene and within the world of Electronica music.
With a cutting edge organic and original sound that takes you on a experimental Afro-Electronica journey, Val's progress has been swift, her confidence frightening, and her ideas infinite.
